Patek Philippe Best New Products For 2021
Aside from the green dialed 5711/1A, Patek Philippe has been busy launching a series of great new products for 2021. Here are our picks for the best of the year – the green Nautilus (of course!) ), the new Calatrava movement, and the new built-in perpetual calendar.

Patek Philippe 2021 New Product Highlights

Patek Philippe introduces a new perpetual calendar grand complication with an innovative patented online display (Ref. 5236P-001), a new Calatrava with the famous “Parisian nail” bezel, a new annual calendar metal strap with a round steel case (Ref. 4947/1A-001), and a new ladies’ movement (Ref. 4997/200G -001). The ladies’ Calatrava, with its guilloché blue lacquered dial and slightly larger case, is now fitted with a self-winding movement (Ref. 4997/200G-001). Of these nine new products, we have chosen three as our highlights.

Patek Philippe Nautilus Ref 5711/1A Olive Green

Patek Philippe has already been making waves with rumors of the 5711/1A being discontinued. However, it is now clear that this will be the last year that the stainless steel Nautilus will be released as an extinct model. Here it is – the 5711/1A with olive green dial. our take on the blue dial Ref. 5711/1A is located here.

All the main features of the upcoming Nautilus have been retained. The only new feature is the green dial. It does not disappoint. In a year with many green dials, Patek Philippe has taken the high road with a new olive green sunburst dial with the traditional raised stripe Nautilus dial that is certainly a good looking watch.

But this isn’t the only new Nautilus watch being introduced in 2021. A total of four new models have been added to this stable. So, in addition to this new 5711/1A, this new dial will also be offered in a version with a bezel set with baguette diamonds. Patek Philippe Calatrava Ref 6119

The new Calatrava, with its famous “Parisian nail” bezel and new hand-wound movement, joins the collection this year. The bezel is an industry icon, the most famous model being the Ref. 3919, launched in 1985. With its white dial and black lacquered Roman numerals, it has been in production for over 20 years.

The Calatrava collection itself started with the Ref. 96 (case diameter 30.5 mm), to the Ref. 96D (D for decoration) with 30.6 mm to the Ref. 3919 (33.4 mm) and now the Ref. 6119 with a case diameter of 39 mm. This new watch will be available in rose gold and white gold cases.

The movement is the new Calibre 30-255PS, with a diameter of 30.4 mm and a height of just 2.5 mm. This larger diameter allows for a double barrel design and a higher power reserve of 65 hours. As with the recently launched new Patek Philippe movement, the C.30-355PS will feature a stop-second hacking mechanism.

Patek Philippe Calatrava Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5236P

Patek Philippe is well known for their perpetual calendar watches. Surprisingly, this new product is a new iteration of their creativity in this complex field – introducing their first watch with a day, date and month display. This recessed display was inspired by the manufacturer’s pocket watch, the Ref. 725/4, which can be seen in the Patek Philippe Museum.

The case, currently available only in platinum, has a diameter of 41.3 mm and a height of just 11.07 mm. The launch model has a blue dial with a black gradient on the periphery and a vertical satin finish. The inset display shows the day, date and month in a panoramic window below the Patek Philippe logo and makes the perpetual calendar display look very clean and easy to read.

This is an interesting perpetual calendar complication because it is a technical feat of miniaturization. As you can see from the movement photo below, the inline system occupies the entire surface of the movement. The module customized for the display itself holds 3 patent applications. And it relies on four disks, two of which are used for the date, all arranged in a single level. The system is made up of 118 parts.

The perpetual calendar display also shows the moon phases, the leap year cycle and day/night indications elsewhere on the dial.

The new 31-260 PS QL movement is equipped with an automatic winding system with an embedded micro-rotor.

It has been another year full of new ideas for Patek Philippe. Not only has it stolen the limelight in the long-running debate about the stainless steel Nautilus, but it has also unveiled a beautiful new Calatrava model with a “Clous de Paris” bezel, as well as a new movement that could mark the direction of Patek Philippe movements – a larger, longer power reserve and now, of course, a hacking seconds function. -larger, longer power reserve and now, of course, the hacking seconds. There’s also a stunning new perpetual calendar with an embedded display. It’s been an amazing year for Patek Philippe.
