It’s finally happened. Audemars Piguet has announced the launch of the first Royal Oak “Jumbo” platinum watch with a green sunburst dial. This is exciting in a way. For the uninitiated, having a green sunburst dial in the Royal Oak Jumbo is a welcome event. The Royal Oak Jumbo 15202 is sure to be a hit in the world of Haute Horlogerie. There is no doubt that Audemars Piguet is a top luxury watchmaker. In fact, the Swiss watchmaker is often referred to as one of the top three or “trinity” in Swiss luxury watchmaking.
The launch of the new green dial Royal Oak collection is not only a welcome surprise, but also a sign that the brand is ready to try more new things. Watch lovers around the world will be very pleased.

To be honest, this watch looks ecstatic. It retains the iconic Royal Oak Jumbo 39mm case size and the transparent display case back. Now, Audemars Piguet is not a shy brand. The watchmaker has always been open to bold moves with its watches. However, the green dial is different, it’s special. Why, you ask? Well, green seems to be a middle ground between a very bold and a very safe hit. This is surely a first for a Swiss watchmaker.
The number 15202 sets a precedent. A model without a chronograph, without a tourbillon, without complications, is the best way to define Audemars Piguet’s popularity among watch lovers. This watch seems to have a rather lustrous sunburst-shaped aesthetic. The smoky details on the dial create a contrasting effect with the edges of the dial. The white gold hands and hour markers are luminous. A closer look at the date display reveals that it blends perfectly with the color theme of the dial. The green color of the dial gradually blends into the thematic color of the date display in a very special way.
The “ultra-thin” watch will have a 39 mm wide and 8.1 mm thick 950 platinum case. As mentioned above, the dial color will be an attractive sunburst green. The indices will be applied as well as luminous. In terms of water resistance, the watch will be protected by a depth of 50 meters. Finally, this Royal Oak timepiece will indeed be equipped with an integrated full platinum bracelet.
Audemars Piguet has chosen the caliber 2121 for the new Royal Oak Jumbo. However, this comes as no surprise. The watch will be equipped with a solid gold winding mass as well as tracking hours, minutes and, of course, a date display. The Royal Oak has long been associated with this automatic movement. As far as watch connoisseurs are concerned, it is a pleasure to peer at the working movement through the transparent caseback. For those unaware, Audemars Piguet’s ultra-thin automatic caliber 2121 is just 3.05 mm thick. The mechanism offers a 40-hour power reserve while sprinting at a frequency of 19,800 VPH.
