Following the launch of the first chronograph to join the Aquanaut men’s collection in 2018, the Aquanaut Chronograph Ref. 5968A-001 in stainless steel, Patek Philippe now presents the first white gold version of the Aquanaut Chronograph, available in two colors: dark blue dyed black (5968G-001) or khaki green (5968G-)010).
In this model, the chronograph function is perfectly integrated into the Aquanaut’s typical design, with a 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock echoing the rounded octagonal shape of the bezel.
The chronograph indications (scanning seconds, quarter-second scale, 60-minute counter) are highlighted in white on an embossed Aquanaut pattern.
The white gold-coated numerals and bar hands have a rich luminescent coating and are highly readable in all light conditions.
The lines of the 42.2 mm x 11.9 mm case are accentuated by the interplay of polished and brushed surfaces on the case, bezel and pushers. The watch is water-resistant to 120 meters/400 feet.
The self-winding flyback chronograph movement CH 28-520 C/528 is equipped with a classic column wheel and a modern vertical disc clutch that prevents the hands from bouncing in either direction when the chronograph is started.
Thanks to a virtually frictionless clutch, the central chronograph hand can also be used as a permanent second hand. The flyback function allows the user to start timing a new event while the chronograph is still running by applying a simple pressure to the push-piece at 4 o’clock.
The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and has an automatic running time of 45 to 55 hours.
The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph is available on a one-piece strap made of ultra-abrasive composite material with a folding clasp secured by four separate fasteners, in midnight blue (5968G-001) or khaki green (5968G-010), at a price of 61,190 euros.
